Broad Bipartisan Support
According to a new poll conducted by Mission Roll Call, 71% of veterans favor the TCAVA package. “I know it’s an emotional issue for many veterans, but the vast majority of veterans and their families support this,” said John Whelan, CEO of Mission Roll Call. Criticism from Some Veteran Groups
Not all veteran organizations are in agreement. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) raised concerns about provisions that would adjust the rating schedule for tinnitus and sleep apnea, arguing that the changes could cost up to $57 billion over the next decade and affect 1.5 million veterans. VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore warned that benefits should not be financed through offsets or fee increases that burden military families.

Despite the criticism, Whelan remains optimistic that Congress will pass TCAVA before the end of the current term.
