Vero Beach Regional Airport is considering renovations to improve the passenger experience and handle growing traffic. The airport has seen an increase in flights and passengers, and city leaders are looking for ways to make travel more comfortable.
Proposed Changes
Interim Airport Director Brandon Dambeck said the airport is working with a company called Envision to design and build a new long-term parking lot. The airport is also considering three options for improvements, including a new passenger exit area, a small expansion to the south side of the terminal building, and a new building to the west of the terminal with an indoor baggage claim area.
Passenger Orinthea Wilson, who uses the airport about twice a month, likes the convenience of flying out of Vero Beach. She suggested that more parking and downstairs bathrooms would be helpful, but she still likes the airport’s smaller feel.
The goal of the renovations is to improve the passenger experience, not to expand airline operations. Dambeck said the airport wants to give people a little more breathing room and make the terminal more comfortable.
