Vance County deputies responded to a welfare check around 10 a.m. Monday in the Gillside community after two individuals did not arrive for work. Upon arrival, deputies found a man and woman inside the home with gunshot wounds.
Investigation Ongoing
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting. Authorities are not publicly identifying the people who died as they work to notify their families about what happened. The sheriff’s office said it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
