USMNT Star Timothy Weah

Timothy Weah, the son of soccer legend George Weah, is a member of one of soccer’s royal families. Growing up in Queens, New York, Timothy was surrounded by his father’s legacy, with pictures and jerseys all over the house.

Early Life and Career

Timothy started playing soccer at just 18 months old and was taught how to juggle by his uncle, Michael Duncan. He played amongst his older brothers and cousins and would often find a ball and start kicking it.

Timothy’s soccer success wasn’t strictly due to his famous last name. He recalls his uncle being a significant influence on his early soccer career, taking him to summer camps and teaching him the basics of the game.

Community Involvement

Timothy was raised in the diverse neighborhood of Rosedale in Queens, where he was exposed to various cultures, including his mom’s native Jamaica and his dad’s native Liberia. The area was also home to the Rosedale Soccer Club, a community program run by his uncle since 1999.

Timothy regularly makes appearances at the Rosedale Soccer Club to speak with young players and inspire the next generation. He hopes to use his platform to make a positive impact on his community and the world of soccer.
