Rubio and Miliband reiterated their shared commitment to safe transit in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring that Iran never develops or obtains a nuclear weapon. The UK’s foreign secretary also planned to raise the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
European Security and Ukraine
Miliband’s meeting with Rubio was his second, following a brief introduction at the ASEAN meeting in Manila in July. The UK foreign secretary is also due to meet the multilateral development bank’s president, Ajay Banga, during his visit to Washington.
