The United States, Israel, and Lebanon have signed a trilateral framework to end the long-standing conflict on the Israeli-Lebanese border. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the agreement, characterizing it as a major milestone in President Trump’s effort to bring lasting peace and stability to the region.
Framework Details
The framework establishes a formal process to restore total sovereignty to Lebanon and dismantle the military infrastructure of Hizballah. The agreement criticizes Hizballah, calling it an Iranian proxy that has repeatedly dragged the Lebanese people into unwanted conflicts.
To implement the agreement, the three countries are setting up the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), which will be facilitated by the United States. The framework gives Lebanon a realistic exit from its ongoing national crisis while offering Israel a verifiable method to secure its northern border.
The US is releasing $100 million in humanitarian assistance, which will be managed alongside the United Nations. The US Department of War is also preparing to provide over $30 million to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to support the President’s vision for an enduring peace in Lebanon.
