Jeffrey Davidson and Walter Zak, a retired couple from Orlando, Florida, have made the Peloponnese region of Greece their new home. They decided to leave the United States and start a new life in Greece, a country they fell in love with during a 10-day cruise around the Greek islands to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
A New Chapter
The couple, who previously worked in hospitality, sold their three-story townhouse and most of their belongings to make the move. They took advantage of the Greek Golden Visa program, which allows non-EU nationals to secure EU residency through real estate investment. They purchased a fully furnished home in the village of Platanos, in the coastal town of Akrata, for €400,000.
Jeffrey and Walter are enjoying their new life in Greece, surrounded by the country’s rich history and what they describe as the ‘wonderful chaotic energy’ of the European country. They spend their days relaxing at home, exploring local sites, and taking day trips to nearby cities like Athens.
The couple has been warmly received by the locals, who are thrilled to hear that they are full-time residents of Greece. They have tried to learn the Greek language and have made some Greek friends, which has helped them feel more settled in their new home.
