The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed a preliminary evaluation of 441,002 Honda vehicles after the company issued a recall of some Odyssey models. The regulator opened a probe into 441,000 units of the 2018-2022 Honda Odyssey minivan in October last year after complaints that side airbags deployed unexpectedly while the vehicle was in motion, including incidents involving potholes.

The company said in its recall filing to the NHTSA that as of April 2, it has had 130 warranty claims, 25 reports of an injury, and no reports of death related to this issue from January 24, 2017 to April 2, 2026. The recall issued by the company covered certain 2018-2022 Honda Odyssey models. Customers were notified of the move in late May this year.
