The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded the Tri-County Technical College Foundation an $8,000 grant to support adult literacy. The grant funds will provide textbooks and classroom materials for students participating in the College’s I-BEST program, which enables students to earn college credit and nationally recognized, industry certifications for free.
In the Upstate, several other organizations also received grants from the fund, including: Greenville Literacy Association, Adult Learning Center in Spartanburg, and Center for Community Services in Simpsonville.
Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, stated that the foundation has remained focused on making meaningful investments in students, teachers, and the organizations that support literacy and learning at every stage of life. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation plans to launch its seventh annual The Yellow Glasses project on July 20, with yellow sunglasses available for purchase at Dollar General stores for $2 each to benefit the DGLF.
