An unlicensed Central Florida contractor, Anson Gallaway, may get a plea deal to avoid trial in two Orange County criminal cases. Gallaway, the president of Cat 5 Prefab Homes, has been convicted in Volusia County of unlicensed contracting and is serving probation for taking more than half a million dollars from customers in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Background
Gallaway’s attorney, Bruce Johns, is handling the criminal cases and is meeting with the 9th Circuit assistant state attorney to resolve both cases. A hearing is set for July 31 to explain how both cases might be resolved. Juliette Harrell, the alleged victim in the misdemeanor case, paid Gallaway $45,000 for an accessory dwelling unit that was never built.
Harrell is also suing Gallaway in civil court, which may result in a judge ordering him to pay her back. Gallaway was previously convicted in Volusia County of unlicensed contracting and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and ordered to pay restitution to the victim.
