Arizona State University has introduced a new degree program in content creation, allowing students to earn a Bachelor of Arts in this field. The program, offered through the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, aims to equip students with the skills to create powerful content across various platforms, including video, podcasts, and social media.
Program Details
The program includes coursework in communications, such as Media and Society, Mass Communications Ethics, and Information Gathering. Additionally, students will take courses specific to influencing, including The Digital Audience, Videography for Mass Media, Interpersonal Influence, and How to Become an Influencer. As a final project, students will be required to start a social media account, implement a growth strategy, create content, and increase their follower count.
According to Jessica Pucci, senior associate dean at the Cronkite School, the program will provide students with world-class faculty support and help them build their brand. This program is not the first of its kind, as some colleges have started offering coursework in influencing, and St. Bonaventure University has a similar degree program. However, Arizona State University is the first large university to offer a program like this.
