An American flag has been raised atop the spike of Universal Studios Florida’s new ‘Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift’ coaster, signifying the structure has reached its full height during construction.

The spike will eventually send riders nearly 17 stories into the air over Universal CityWalk. A second flag, featuring a Fast and Furious 25th anniversary logo, is also visible on the structure. The ride replaces Hollywood Rip Ride Rock-It, which closed last year. It’s set to open in 2027.
The new coaster features a 360-degree rotation of the individual vehicles to simulate the sensation of drifting cars. The ride is expected to reach speeds of up to 72 mph. Chopper 2 flew over the ride on Wednesday and got a first look as pieces of the coaster’s track are beginning to go up.
