United Airlines has revealed a special ‘Stars and Stripes’ paint scheme on two of its planes in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. The livery, which features 50 white stars on a deep blue background next to seven red and white stripes, will be displayed on a Boeing 787-10 and a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
A Symbol of American Culture
According to United CEO Scott Kirby, the company plays a significant role in spreading American culture and traditions around the globe. The unveiling of the livery took place at United’s hangar at Washington-Dulles International Airport, where Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy noted that America’s birthday is a unifying force for the country.
The planes were painted in Amarillo, Texas, and feature a commemorative plaque dedicated to service members and veterans who work for United. This initiative is part of a broader effort by airlines to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, with Southwest Airlines and American Airlines also debuting their own special liveries earlier this year.
