Uniontown traffic fatality: 23‑year‑old Lee Black killed in early‑morning crash on Route 119

Uniontown, Pa. – A tragic traffic accident early Thursday morning claimed the life of a young local resident. Fayette County dispatch reported that a two‑vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 119, just before the Main Street exit to Route 21.

The victim has been identified by the Fayette County coroner’s office as Lee Black, 23, a resident of Connellsville. Details about the circumstances leading to the collision have not yet been released, and investigators are working to determine the cause.

Road closure and traffic impact

Following the crash, northbound traffic on Route 119 was halted for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene and conducted an initial investigation. The closure forced motorists to seek alternate routes, causing delays on nearby thoroughfares, including Route 21 and local streets in Uniontown.

County officials urged drivers to exercise caution on the area’s rural highways, especially during early‑morning hours when visibility can be reduced. “We ask the public to remain patient and follow any detour signage while we work to restore normal traffic flow,” a spokesperson for the Fayette County Highway Department said.

Community response

Friends and family of Lee Black gathered at a nearby church later Thursday to pray for his soul and support his loved ones. The local community, known for its strong family values and faith‑centered support networks, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a young life.

“We are heartbroken,” said a close friend who asked to remain anonymous. “Lee was a bright young man with a promising future. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

Investigation continues

Fayette County Police Department detectives are reviewing dash‑cam footage, witness statements, and any available vehicle data to piece together what led to the fatal collision. No arrests have been made, and no evidence of criminal activity has been reported at this stage.

Authorities have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information about the incident to contact the Fayette County Police Department at (724) 555‑0123.

Safety reminder

Local officials continue to remind drivers of the importance of safe driving practices, especially on rural highways that can be prone to fog, wildlife crossings, and limited lighting. They recommend reducing speed, avoiding distractions, and ensuring that all vehicle safety equipment—such as headlights and brakes—is in proper working order.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will hold a public viewing for Lee Black’s family at the Uniontown Funeral Home on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a private service later in the evening.
