The Ucross Foundation, a renowned artist residency program in northern Wyoming, is set to host a farewell happy hour for Bim Eriksson, a visual artist from Stockholm, Sweden. The event will take place on May 27, from 4 to 6 p.m., at The Warehouse Gastropub in Sheridan.
Community Engagement and Artistic Exchange
During her residency, Eriksson engaged with the local community, developing new creative projects as part of the European Union’s Transatlantic Rising Stars initiative. This program aims to foster artistic exchange and collaboration between European and American artists. Eriksson’s work spans comics, drawing, and multidisciplinary storytelling, often exploring themes of emotional complexity, identity, and power structures.
While in Wyoming, Eriksson collaborated with local artist Polly Burge and Buffalo poet David Romtvedt, a Ucross alumnus. She also presented a community artist talk at Sheridan College on April 30, sharing her insights and experiences with local residents.
Farewell Event Details
The farewell event will feature a preview of Eriksson’s collaborative projects with Burge and Romtvedt, as well as her solo work. Guests will enjoy a smorgasbord of Swedish-inspired bites, curated by Head Chef Jeff Armstrong and Owner Christer Johansson of The Warehouse Gastropub. Johansson, originally from Trollhättan, Sweden, expressed his excitement about sharing a taste of Swedish culture with the Sheridan community.
Eriksson will also have an open studio during Ucross Founder’s Day on May 30, before traveling to Washington, D.C. There, she, Burge, and Romtvedt will present their collaborative works at a special event hosted by the European Union Delegation to the United States at the Hirshhorn Museum in June.
The farewell event is free and open to the public, though reservations are required at ucross.org. Guests who make suggested donations will receive a wristband for access to food and a traditional Swedish drink, with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options available. Reserved VIP seating is also offered.
