Scottsdale, AZ – Court documents released Monday detail the dramatic chase that ended with two suspected street racers driving onto an active runway at Scottsdale Airport on Friday night. Liberty Dawn Still, 33, of Glendale, and Michael Gregory Wall, 24, now face a combined eight charges and could face additional federal accusations.
Police pursuit and runway incursion
Detectives from the city’s street‑racing task force were monitoring a known racing group when they spotted a black Dodge Challenger near State Route 51 and Bethany Home Road. Officers attempted to pull Still over after she slowed traffic on the freeway, but she refused and continued driving.
Police deployed a StarChase GPS device to tag the vehicle and followed it by helicopter from Phoenix to Scottsdale. The chase concluded at Scottsdale Airport, where Still reversed into a detective’s car and drove through the airport’s security gate.
Dangerous maneuvering on the tarmac
While commercial and private planes were landing and taking off, Still weaved around several parked aircraft, narrowly missing them before ramming a closed hangar door. She then collided with a “very expensive” jetliner parked on the tarmac and fled toward the runway area before officers apprehended her.
Wall, the passenger, attempted to escape by crouching along a hangar wall. Police used a stun gun to subdue him, but he resisted arrest, requiring several minutes for officers to handcuff him. He was later taken to a hospital.
Charges filed
Still faces five charges, including obstructing a highway, unlawful flight from law enforcement, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, and refusing to provide her legal name. She also has an active warrant in Glendale for a misdemeanor.
Wall is accused of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and refusing to provide his legal name after initially refusing to identify himself.
Both suspects could face additional trespassing charges in Scottsdale, and the Scottsdale Police Department is expected to recommend felony criminal‑damage charges against Still. The FBI is also investigating the incident as a possible federal trespassing case.
