The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is launching a new program aimed at giving teenagers a firsthand look at law enforcement and public service. The TCSO Ranger Program will be open to young men and women ages 16 and 17 in Tuscaloosa County.

Through hands-on activities, classroom instruction, mentorship, and locally hosted events, participants will get an inside look at patrol operations, detention services, medical response, communications, and community outreach. Sheriff’s Office officials say the program is designed to build character, leadership, and teamwork skills regardless of whether participants plan to pursue careers in public safety.
Specific dates, informational sessions, and application details have not yet been announced, but TCSO announced the program in a Wednesday Facebook post. “Whether your teen is considering a future in law enforcement, public safety, or simply wants to grow as a leader, develop new skills, and give back to the community, the TCSO Ranger Program will offer a one-of-a-kind experience,” they said.
