President Donald Trump delivered a series of false claims at a press conference at the NATO summit in Ankara. Trump repeated his frequent false claim that the US has $19.2 trillion invested in it in just one year of his current presidency. However, the White House’s own website claims there have been $10.6 trillion in major investment announcements this term, which is still a major exaggeration of actual investment.
False Claims on Immigration and Economy
Trump also claimed that the US has the largest number of plants being built for the most money ever in the history of the country. However, federal data shows that spending on US manufacturing construction has steadily declined during Trump’s second term. Additionally, Trump lied about the 2020 election, saying he won it, when in fact he lost to President Joe Biden.
Trump also made false claims about immigration, including the number of people crossing the border. He claimed there were 25 million people crossing the border under President Biden, when in fact the federal government recorded under 11 million nationwide encounters with migrants during the Biden administration.
