A disturbing incident occurred in Fort Lauderdale when a mother and her 12-year-old son were attacked by a stranger. The attack happened on Tuesday at around 7:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Police, the suspect walked up to the mother and son and hit them with a blunt object. The suspect then fled the area. He was seen wearing a red shirt and shorts.
The 12-year-old son, who has autism and is non-verbal, suffered an abrasion to his face, while his mother had a laceration to the back of her head. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her desire for the suspect to be caught, stating, ‘You can’t attack a child, especially a kid who’s 12 years old and a woman and get away with it.’
