President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the United States is preparing to launch a major strike against Iran tonight, along with future plans to take over the country’s oil and gas markets.
Trump’s Plan
In a message posted to his Truth Social account, Trump claimed that Iran’s military defenses are entirely wiped out. He stated that the country’s “Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti-Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!”
Because of this, the president warned that the U.S. will be hitting Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT.” Along with the immediate strikes, Trump outlined a longer-term strategy aimed at Iran’s energy sector. He specifically named Kharg Island as a future target.
At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points,” Trump wrote. The president explained that the goal of these seizures is to “assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets.” Trump compared the upcoming strategy to U.S. actions in South America, stating that the plan is “much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America.”
