President Donald Trump is doubling down on his support of Mike Mazzei for Oklahoma governor ahead of the August runoff. Trump endorsed Mazzei for governor ahead of the primary election in June. Mazzei was among a crowded field of Republicans seeking the nomination, and he advanced to a runoff with Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond after they were the top two vote-getters with around 26 percent.
Drummond’s Response
The Oklahoma attorney general released a statement in response to Trump’s latest endorsement of Mazzei. Drummond said his focus isn’t on selling out to buy endorsements from Washington; it’s on earning the trust and support of the people of Oklahoma. Oklahomans can vote in the primary runoff election for the Republican gubernatorial race and others statewide on Aug. 25.
