According to Trump, Israel has agreed to join the U.S. in the commitment to try to complete the agreement with Iran that would bring about an end to the war. The deal comes after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed concerns about the U.S. potentially escalating the conflict with Iran in a phone call with Trump earlier on Saturday.
The Saudis are concerned that if the U.S. targets Iran’s energy infrastructure or carries out massive strikes on other key infrastructure, Tehran could respond by carrying out attacks on the kingdom’s and other Gulf countries’ energy infrastructure. Trump had previously told reporters that the U.S. will hit Iran ‘very hard’ until they can’t take it anymore.
The U.S. State Department issued new security alerts for Americans in 10 countries in the region to exercise heightened caution due to the escalating tensions with Iran. The warnings cover Bahrain, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
