The Trump administration is partnering with states and local school districts to implement innovative ways to get whole, nutrient-dense foods to our kids. This effort is part of the 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which promote health across every stage of life.
Healthy School Meals
The goal is simple: eat real food. Highly processed sugary foods can make the body feel sluggish and sick, while whole, nutrient-dense foods provide nourishment and the real fuel that growing kids need.
USDA’s Farm to School Grant Program connects farmers to children by incorporating local foods into school meals, summer meals, and childcare settings. This program has awarded nearly $20 million in grants in the last three months, supporting projects like the Powered by Protein project, which will help schools source local beef, pork, and poultry.
