Tropical Storm Bertha is nearing a Louisiana landfall, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph as of 10AM Wednesday. The storm is expected to make landfall east of New Orleans late Wednesday and track west along the Louisiana coast through Thursday before dissipating on Friday after moving into Texas.
In central and south Alabama, isolated to widely scattered showers or storms associated with Bertha’s outer tropical bands are expected to track south to north across the area. Otherwise, Wednesday afternoon is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy, hot, and humid, with high temperatures ranging from the low to mid 90s and heat indices peaking near or over 100°. A heat advisory is in effect for the northwest part of the area until 9PM Wednesday.
