A 10-year-old boy from Harlem, New York, has won a costume contest at the Fanatics Fest in New York City. Owin Osei dressed up as a seven-foot FIFA World Cup trophy, complete with a golden human figure and an inflatable globe strapped to a hiking backpack.
The Costume
The costume was designed and constructed by Owin’s mother, Carrol Chang, who spent 16 hours creating it. The costume included a golden jumpsuit and cap, and Owin’s face was painted gold. The family worked together to apply golden touchups using gold tin foil and tape throughout the day.
Owin’s costume was a hit at the Fanatics Fest, with many people taking photos and videos with him. He even got to watch some of the World Cup matches while wearing his costume, and he waved his arms to pump up the crowd and celebrate Spain’s goal in a 1-0 victory.
The Prize
Owin won two tickets to some of 2027’s biggest sporting events, including Super Bowl LXI, UFC 330, and the New York Knicks’ home opener. He also received a solid gold two-toned diamond Fanatics pendant valued at $25,000. Owin was excited about the prize, saying that the pendant was his favorite part.
Owin’s family was thrilled when they found out he had won the contest. They were at home when they received the call from a Fanatics representative, and they all went crazy with excitement. Owin’s mom, Carrol, even spilled water all over the table.
