A dog suffered injuries on Wednesday after being attacked by a bear in Torrington. At around 11:15 a.m., DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to a report of an incident involving a bear and a dog.
According to EnCon Police, a Torrington resident was taking out his trash when a bear unexpectedly appeared from behind the dumpster. The owner dropped the dog’s leash and the bear and the dog began to fight. The bear pinned the dog to the ground before releasing the dog and leaving the area.
The dog suffered a deep laceration to its neck and puncture wounds to its hindquarters. The dog was transported to the emergency veterinarian hospital for treatment. Its condition is unknown at this time.
