Tinder has reported a significant increase in user activity during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with matches rising nearly 60% across the United States compared to the same period last year.
International Fans Flood U.S. Cities
The dating app also saw a 15% increase in users and a 25% rise in swipe activity nationwide. The spike is particularly notable in World Cup host cities, where international users showed even stronger engagement.
Tinder recorded an average 47% increase in activity among international users in host cities across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada between June 11 and 16. Host cities have seen the strongest gains, with Monterrey, Mexico, reporting more than an 80% increase in international user activity around certain matches, while Guadalajara saw a 74% rise.
In the U.S., cities such as Boston recorded a 47% increase during key games. Domestic users also contributed to the rise, with activity up 22% across the 16 host cities. Tinder’s Passport feature, which allows users to swipe in different locations, has seen higher usage in major markets including New York/New Jersey, Los Angeles, and Miami.
