A fatal car crash occurred on Westlake Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, claiming the life of 55-year-old Anthony Whiteside. The crash happened at around 4 a.m. on August 5, north of Cascade Avenue, adjacent to the North Ranch Shopping Center.
According to Senior Deputy Christopher Riggs of the Thousand Oaks Police Department, the car, a Chevy Volt sedan, had a significant impact and was not drivable after the crash. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures on Whiteside before he was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigation Underway
The Thousand Oaks Police Traffic Bureau is investigating the crash. Investigators are conducting a vehicle inspection and hope to obtain data from the vehicle’s event data recorder. They are also awaiting a review by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of the crash.
Whiteside’s daughter, Syah, has created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs. The campaign states, ‘He will be missed very much. Anything will be appreciated, along with your prayers for comfort at this difficult time.’
