Jonesboro, Ark. — TLC‑The Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas unveiled plans for The Village of TLC, a new housing development that will provide 20 accessible apartments for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The project moves forward thanks to a $1.5 million commitment from the Chris and Jamie Fowler family, a key contribution toward TLC’s $6 million capital campaign.
Fowler family donation fuels capital campaign
The Fowler family’s gift represents a major milestone for the campaign, which launched in June 2026 to address the growing need for safe, affordable, and supportive housing for adults with IDD in the Jonesboro community. With the donation, TLC is now significantly closer to completing The Village of TLC and delivering a dignified living environment for residents and their families throughout Northeast Arkansas.
What The Village of TLC will offer
Each of the 20 apartments will be fully accessible and feature a home‑like layout, including a full kitchen, refrigerator, in‑unit washer and dryer, and an individual front porch designed to foster neighborly interaction. The design emphasizes independence while ensuring residents remain connected to the services and support they need.
Leadership’s perspective
“We are incredibly grateful to Chris, Jamie and their family for believing in this vision and making such a meaningful investment in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said TLC Executive Director Dr. Lynn Cooper. “The Village of TLC will be more than an apartment development. It will be a community where individuals have the opportunity to experience greater independence, build meaningful connections and live with the dignity and support they deserve.”
Community launch event
The announcement was made during TLC’s annual Keys to Independence fundraiser on October 2, 2026, held at The Lounge at Huntington Square, 313 W. Huntington Avenue in Jonesboro. Proceeds from the event will continue to support the capital campaign and bring The Village of TLC to life.
Why this matters for Jonesboro families
For families of adults with IDD, the lack of affordable, supportive housing has long been a challenge. The Village of TLC aims to fill that gap, offering a safe, dignified environment that respects the independence and belonging of each resident. By keeping residents close to local services and community resources, the development aligns with TLC’s broader mission to empower individuals with IDD to lead fulfilling lives.
