The Texas Tribune is investing in coverage of education and the Houston region. The Tribune has hired Megan Menchaca, one of the leading education reporters in Texas, to cover education. Menchaca joins the Tribune from The Houston Chronicle, where she led coverage of the Texas Education Agency’s historic takeover of Houston ISD.
Expanding Coverage in Houston
The Tribune has also added a Houston regions reporter, Stephen Simpson, a Tribune veteran and former mental health reporter. Simpson will cover the Houston area, a region more populous than most states, and explore the impact of government and politics on the area. The Tribune’s growing reporting presence in Houston includes general assignment reporter Colleen DeGuzman, climate reporter Emily Foxhall, and investigative reporter Lomi Kriel.
The Tribune’s mission is to seek the truth so Texans can govern themselves. The Tribune hopes to fearlessly tell the story of Texas with nuance, complexity, expertise, and authority.
