Texas Tech Debuts All‑Black “Let’s Ride” Uniforms for Houston Game

Texas Tech University announced that the Red Raiders will take the field in a brand‑new all‑black uniform for their Friday night game against the University of Houston at Galaxy Stadium. The sleek look, featuring red trim and the State Farm logo, is part of the school’s ongoing “Let’s Ride” uniform series.

Design and Partnerships

The uniform was developed in collaboration with Adidas, the official athletic apparel provider, and State Farm, the program’s longtime sponsor. The design also incorporates the signature of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who serves as a State Farm ambassador. Mahomes’ own Gladiator brand appears on the jersey, linking the Red Raiders’ new look to the star quarterback’s legacy.

Mahomes Connection

Texas Tech first introduced the “Mahomes Strategy” collection in 2024 to honor the quarterback’s impact on the sport and his ties to the university’s fan base. In a recent statement, Mahomes expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “There’s a lot of history and meaning behind the ‘Let’s Ride’ uniform design, and I’m excited to help bring these partners together to share it with Red Raider fans and put it on the field this week.”

Game Details

The debut of the all‑black uniform will occur during the Friday night contest, which is already sold out. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., with live coverage on FOX and the Texas Tech Sports Network. Fans can follow updates on the Texas Tech Athletics website.

Community Reaction

Local supporters have taken to social media to praise the bold new look, noting that the black and red color scheme will stand out on television and in the stadium. The partnership with a high‑profile athlete like Mahomes is also seen as a boost for the university’s brand, potentially attracting more recruits and enhancing the program’s national visibility.

Looking Ahead

While the uniform change is primarily a branding effort, it underscores Texas Tech’s broader strategy to engage fans, secure corporate sponsorships, and celebrate athletic excellence. The Red Raiders will aim to translate the excitement of the new attire into on‑field performance as they seek a victory over Houston.
