Texas gun owners are leading the nation in purchasing suppressors after the federal government eliminated the $200 National Firearms Act tax. According to data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Texas recorded 23,133 NFA background checks in June, more than any other state. This surge in sales sends a clear message: when government removes barriers to the exercise of the Second Amendment, law-abiding Americans respond.
We agree that eliminating the tax was a step in the right direction, but it didn’t go far enough. The National Firearms Act still regulates suppressors and other firearms, requiring gun owners to submit fingerprints and photographs, undergo a federal approval process, and register their property with the ATF. Texas Gun Rights refused to celebrate the partial victory and instead pressured Republican senators to reject the parliamentarian’s interpretation and finish the job of repealing the NFA.
The fight for the Second Amendment is far from over. With George Soros-backed organizations and radical national Democrats pouring resources into Texas to elect anti-gun candidates, it’s crucial that gun owners continue to mobilize and defend their rights. We endorse the efforts of Texas Gun Rights to abolish the ATF and repeal the NFA, ensuring that law-abiding Americans can exercise their constitutional rights without undue burden.
