Shelves were starting to empty at Texarkana’s Target store on the final day of the Texas Sales Tax Holiday. Manager Renea Booker said that despite the rain, Saturday was still the busiest day. Booker has been with the store since 2015 and said she believes this year is the busiest she has ever seen.
Tax Holiday Boosts Sales
Booker attributed the increase in sales to budget-friendly guests trying to save every dollar they can. The store’s 25-cent Mondo Llama crayons were a popular item, with the store selling out of them. Booker hopes to restock the item by the end of the week.
With most of Texarkana’s meet-the-teachers events scheduled for Monday, the store expects to see continued heavy traffic. The Texas Sales Tax Holiday ran through midnight on Sunday.
