The family of Jonathan Bohrer, a Bossier City man who has been missing for 37 days, believes that human skeletal remains found Thursday in Texarkana, Ark., are those of their loved one.
Discovery of Remains
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, the remains were discovered near the corner of Delaware and Ray streets by someone mowing their yard. The police spokeswoman, Kristen Schultz, stated that the finding of the human remains was a result of the yard work and that they currently do not have any information on the identity or circumstances surrounding the remains.
Bohrer’s family last saw him on May 5 in Bossier City, and his vehicle was later found abandoned in Texarkana on May 12, prompting an extensive search effort involving law enforcement and community volunteers. In a Facebook post, the family shared that investigators had located a body in Texarkana and that personal items recovered at the scene led them to believe the remains are those of Jonathan.
Bohrer’s father, Brian Bohrer, traveled to Texarkana to view the personal items, which included clothing. However, no identification or credit cards were found with the items, raising concerns for the family. The family also recently discovered a notification showing Jonathan’s bank card was used in early May at a Sunoco gas station located about two blocks from where the remains were found.
Investigation Ongoing
The remains have not been positively identified and have been sent to a forensic laboratory for examination. Investigators said there is currently no evidence of foul play, and the police will not release additional information until the identity of the remains is confirmed.
Brian Bohrer stated that while the family’s belief brings a measure of closure, it is not the outcome they had hoped for. The family is grateful to finally have answers, and the police will continue to follow leads to find peace for the families of both Jonathan and another missing person, Johnny Hamilton.
