Texarkana, Texas, will see improvements to bicycle and pedestrian access on Farm to Market Road 3527, also known as Leopard Drive, with work scheduled to begin this summer. The project, approved by the Texas Department of Transportation in May, includes the addition of a shared use path, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossing signals.
Project Details
The shared use path, designed for bicyclists and pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will start at State Highway 93, also known as South Lake Drive, and continue to the entrance of Grady T. Wallace Park, covering a distance of over three-quarters of a mile. The project utilizes federal funds primarily from the Transportation Alternatives program, with a smaller portion coming from the Safe Routes to Schools program.
THK Construction LLC was awarded the contract with a bid of $942,425. The work is expected to commence later this summer and is anticipated to take approximately 11 months to complete, although the estimated completion date may be subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
