Will Roberts, a 15-year-old from Alabama, was laid to rest on Saturday, but his faith and legacy continue to inspire thousands. During his memorial service at Shelton State Community College, hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their respects to the young man who had made a profound impact on his community through his faith.

A Life of Faith and Service

Will’s father, Jason Roberts, and his pastor, Jason Poole, described Will as a disciple of Christ who used his life to spread the Gospel and inspire others. Despite his battle with a rare bone cancer, Will remained steadfast in his faith and continued to share it with others. Rev. Poole noted that Will’s witness had personally impacted over a quarter million people.

Will’s family and friends remembered him as a young man who loved life and loved people. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and making others laugh. However, it was his faith that truly defined him. As his sister, Charlie, said, ‘There will only ever be one Will Roberts, I want to follow his example. I want to love people the way he did, encourage people the way he did and keep sharing the faith that meant so much to him.’

A Lasting Legacy

Will’s legacy will continue to inspire others through his story. As Rev. Poole read from Will’s obituary, ‘If you wish to honor Will, don’t simply remember how he died. Remember how he lived,’ he admonished. ‘Go fishing. Take your kids hunting. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Tell someone about Jesus. Love your family fiercely, and when life gets hard, fight with everything you’ve got and never waiver in your faith. That’s exactly what Will did.’

Memorial donations may be made to either the Aveni Foundation or Beats the Odds Sarcoma. Will was laid to rest in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ralph, Alabama.
