Miles Russell, a 17-year-old amateur golfer, made his US Open debut and surprised his father, Joe, by having him caddie for him on the final hole. The surprise was a Father’s Day gift for his dad.
US Open Debut
Russell had advanced to the US Open through a 36-hole qualifying tournament earlier in the month. He was paired with fellow amateur Jackson Koivun for the final two rounds.
Russell finished the tournament at 7 over par. He had asked a USGA rules official in the morning if he could make the switch and was given permission. His father, Joe, was not aware of the plan and was surprised when the caddie handed him the bag.
