A law enforcement official briefed on the security plans told the Associated Press that the event on Thursday night will be the rehearsal dinner. Crews have been seen unloading equipment from trucks outside the Manhattan arena, and a large carpet was briefly unveiled outside one entrance before being removed.
A source with knowledge of the matter, who is among the invitees, told NBC News that invitees were sent non-disclosure agreements along with electronic invitations. The person also said multiple performances are expected from various artists, with names like Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw rumored to be taking the stage.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed that a permit had been filed for a “large event” at Madison Square Garden, which includes a request for a tent and street closures around the Garden. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said police “will of course have a detail in place,” but declined to provide further details.
