Texas A&M University-Texarkana is beginning the search for new leadership for its men’s and women’s basketball teams. Men’s head coach Darion Brown is leaving to take the role of head coach at NCAA Division I Nicholls State, while women’s coach Deacon Jones is taking the head coach position at LSU Shreveport.
Coaches’ Achievements
Brown led the Eagles to a 40-21 record in his two seasons and raised the team’s GPA to 3.41, the highest in program history. Jones coached the women’s team to a 20-10 record in his one season.
A&M-Texarkana Director of Athletics Ryan Wall praised both coaches for their dedication and leadership. The university has accepted an invitation to join the Lone Star Conference, pending membership acceptance into NCAA Division II this July.
