Commuters traveling through North Tampa will need to budget some extra time or look for alternate routes starting this morning. The outside eastbound lane of East Busch Boulevard is shutting down between North Brooks Street and North 16th Street for maintenance on the area’s water distribution system.

The Tampa Water Department is closing the lane daily between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to help minimize the impact on morning and evening commutes. Barricades and traffic signs are being set up along the stretch of road to help guide drivers and keep traffic moving safely around the work zone.

Local officials are asking drivers to use extra caution when passing through the area and to consider using alternate routes entirely to avoid delays. The maintenance work is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, depending on the weather.
