Westbound Interstate 4 travel lanes through the Downtown Tampa Interchange will close overnight on Sunday, July 26, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The closure will begin at 10 p.m. Sunday and end at 5 a.m. Monday, July 27, weather permitting. Workers will perform maintenance activities as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project.
During the closure, westbound I-4 drivers will be detoured onto the northbound Interstate 275 entrance ramp. From there, motorists must proceed to Exit 46B, turn left onto State Road 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard), turn left onto Tampa Street, head south, and re-enter I-275 using the southbound entrance ramp.
Electronic message boards and detour signage will guide traffic along the route. Officials advise drivers to use caution through the work zone and watch for construction crews and pedestrians.
