Tampa drivers will need to navigate around two separate daytime lane closures starting Monday morning. Beginning today, June 15 at 9 a.m., the southbound lane of North Manhattan Avenue will shut down between West Broad Street and West Hamilton Avenue. At the exact same time across town, crews will close the outside northbound lane on North Nebraska Avenue between Skipper Road and East Bearss Avenue.
The Tampa Water Department is shutting down both stretches to perform maintenance on the city’s water distribution system. Commuters can expect these daily lane closures to run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Wednesday, June 17.
To keep vehicles moving safely around the North Manhattan Avenue site, barricades and flaggers will be stationed in the area to guide drivers. Over on North Nebraska Avenue, signs and barricades will direct traffic, though officials are asking drivers to consider taking alternate routes.
The city also noted that the Nebraska Avenue lane closures could be modified as the work moves forward. Motorists are urged to use extra caution when passing through both work zones. Assuming the weather holds up, the water department expects both projects to finish and normal traffic patterns to return by 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
