Tampa Bay Rays Games to Air on Central Florida Stations

Baseball fans in Central Florida have reason to celebrate as select Tampa Bay Rays games will be broadcast on local stations, thanks to a new agreement between the team and Hearst Television. This deal will bring 10 games to viewers on WMOR-TV in Tampa, and WESH-TV and WKCF-TV/CW18 in Orlando, among others.

The agreement, which began with the Rays’ home opener in St. Petersburg on April 6, extends coverage to WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach and WBBH-TV and WZVN-TV in the Fort Myers-Naples market. This marks the first time the Fort Myers/Naples area is included in a Hearst Television regional sports package.

John Soapes, President and General Manager of WESH 2, CW18, and WMOR, emphasized the importance of making games available on free, over-the-air television, stating, “This is certainly great news for those in the Tampa Bay area, but over the years many across the Gulf Coast and Central Florida have embraced the Rays as their own.”

The games will be broadcast at various times, including a matchup against Miami on June 5, Boston on July 17, Toronto on July 23, Seattle on August 9, and the Athletics on August 12. Fans can tune in to WESH 2, WMOR, WPBF, and other Gulf Coast NBC and ABC affiliates to catch the action.
