The 86th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is set to begin, bringing an influx of bikers to western South Dakota. The South Dakota Department of Transportation and law enforcement partners are preparing for the event by implementing changes to speed limits, intersection controls, and traffic behavior expectations in the Black Hills area.
Public Safety Efforts
Although the rally doesn’t officially kick off until Friday, the population boom that occurs every year is already being felt in the communities surrounding the greater Rapid City area. The added public safety efforts are aimed at ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees and residents.
