Stellantis is recalling more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks worldwide, including an estimated 1,271,294 in the United States, because an assembly error may have left either of two rear seat belt buckle anchors improperly secured to the truck’s body.

The voluntary recall covers certain 2019-2026 Ram 1500s. The problem involves the second-row center and driver-side buckle anchors. In some collisions, an improperly attached anchor could reduce the seat belt system’s performance and increase the risk of injury, according to FCA US LLC, Stellantis’ North American subsidiary.

Stellantis is aware of one potentially related injury and no fatalities tied to the issue. The worldwide campaign also includes an estimated 156,138 vehicles in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico and 74,084 in other markets.

The recall does not carry a stop-drive order, but FCA advises owners not to use the second-row center or driver-side seats until a dealer inspects or repairs the truck. Owners can continue using other seating positions.

FCA will begin notifying owners by first-class mail in August. Dealers will inspect both buckle anchors and, when necessary, properly attach them to the body structure at no cost.

Not every truck in the recall population has improperly attached anchors. FCA says the campaign includes every vehicle that may have been built with the condition, and dealers must inspect each truck to determine whether further work is necessary.

Some customers have reported that a buckle was not attached to the floor. The issue does not affect front-row seat belts, the company said.

Owners can enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number in Mopar’s recall lookup tool. They can also search the NHTSA database or call FCA customer care at 1-800-853-1403. FCA identifies the campaign as 67D.
