The Great Explorations Children’s Museum in St. Petersburg is seeking input from the community on its new Discovery Center, a space where children can investigate engineering, space exploration, 3D printing, and chemistry, among other topics.
Community Engagement
A community forum was held to gather input from Tampa Bay area residents. The museum’s CEO, Angeline Howell, explained that the proposed project could help educate young people about STEAM-related topics and provide a space for hands-on learning.
Great Explorations Children’s Museum board member Donna Cothron envisions the Discovery Center as a place where community partners can have an impact, hosting traveling exhibits and presentations on science and history.
Pinellas County resident Bobby Colon attended the community forum and expressed his support for the project, hoping it will include a splash pad and coffee shop for parents.
Additional community gatherings are scheduled for July 15, 16, and 22 at the Bay Point Elementary School campus.
