Misting Monoon Diving, LLC, a St. Petersburg-based company, has launched a new initiative to provide free underwater debris removal for community beach cleanups in Pinellas County. The company, which specializes in in-water hull cleaning and underwater video inspections, has partnered with the PADI AWARE Foundation to offer this service.
Community Involvement
Earlier this month, Misting Monsoon Diving’s founder, Jarrett Maryon, and a group of divers participated in a post-Fourth of July cleanup on and around Treasure Island, removing approximately 300 to 400 pounds of trash from the water. The company’s chief operating officer, Patrick “PT” Collins, believes that the collaboration is an opportunity to bring more awareness to the problem of ocean pollution.
Misting Monsoon Diving also contributes to ongoing citizen science data through PADI AWARE’s Dive Against Debris program, providing real-time reporting on underwater conditions, debris tracking, and local marine health. The company is developing the Florida Divers Conservation Coalition, which connects divers with conservation groups around the state of Florida.
