De Pere, Wis. – St. Norbert College continued its competitive NACC campaign on Saturday with a 1‑0 win for the women’s soccer team and a 1‑1 tie for the men’s squad against Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Women’s soccer: Late goal secures victory
Playing at Schneider Stadium, the Green Knights (3‑5‑1, 2‑1 NACC) were dead‑locked with the Warriors until sophomore forward Lexi Fredenhagen pounced on a loose ball with under ten minutes left. Her finish gave St. Norbert a 1‑0 lead that held until the final whistle.
Goalkeeper Leah Hess was instrumental, making several crucial saves in the second half, including a double‑save sequence that preserved the clean sheet. Later at Warriors Soccer Stadium, the men’s Green Knights (3‑3‑3, 1‑1‑1 NACC) fought to a 1‑1 draw. Wisconsin Lutheran struck first at 6:24 when forward Andrew King found the net.
St. Norbert responded in the second half when midfielder Sam Thompson scored his first goal of the season at the 63‑minute mark, assisted by Everett Saeger. Goalkeeper Gabriel Mathisen made several key stops in the first half and was called upon again in the closing minutes to preserve the point.
The Knights were outshot 13‑11, but Mathisen’s five saves kept the result level. Wisconsin Lutheran’s keeper Morgan Determan recorded two saves.
