When the officer arrived, he found Lard, a Sulcata tortoise weighing just under 100 pounds, ambling along the street after slipping out of a fenced yard. The animal’s size and slow pace made it difficult for the owner to coax him back home.

Recognizing the need for assistance, the officer enlisted a nearby bystander. Together, they carefully lifted Lard and placed him in a secure carrier, ensuring the creature would not be further stressed or injured during transport.
