Springfield police released the name of the motorcyclist who lost her life in a traffic collision on Monday, Aug. 17. The victim was identified as Robin Parker, 62, a longtime resident of Springfield.
Details of the crash
At approximately 9:14 a.m., a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 78‑year‑old Melvin Sommerfeld of Fordland was traveling eastbound in the center lane of Kearney Street. The driver turned left onto Patterson Avenue, heading north. At the same time, Parker was riding west on Kearney Street on a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle. According to the Springfield Police Department news release, the motorcycle struck the pickup as the truck was making the turn.
Emergency responders transported Parker to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police confirmed that Parker’s family has been notified of the tragedy.
